I love when blended families come in for photos. This fantastic couple was freshly engaged, and celebrating with "new family" photos. So much fun to capture this special time in their lives.
Here are a few of my favorite images....
In October, I did a Modelling call for newborns on my Facebook page. I had purchased several new props and had been wanting to practice some amazing poses, so a practice session or two was needed. This sweet little dude was one of my two little models for the month of November.
Now...when mom tells you her babies like to be fully cooked and she usually has to be induced, you would think that would be a great way to set a date for newborn photos. However, babies come when they are ready, and this little man decided two weeks early was his time. Ha!
I was so excited to have him in the studio. Mom had made one request for her gift photo...a sibling shot of all her kiddos. All of which are under the age of 4! And all of which had their own ideas. But little did they know that this photographer is fine with sewing images together into one amazing shot. So for the safety of baby Bennett, we did three separate shots of the kiddos, and put them together in Photoshop. The end result....Amazing!
He was a perfect little model. Here are just a few of my favorites from this fantastic Newborn Modelling Session below. Enjoy!
I often do a modelling call out on my Facebook page when there is a technique I wish to try, a pose I want to practice, or (most of the time) when I get some fun new props I want to try out. This year, being new to the area of Hastings, I not only wanted to do all of the above, but also to get my business name out there to the public. What better way to get out there and practice my trade than a model call.
I had several ideas...some for a boy and some for a girl. Luckily this fantastic couple had just given birth to a surprise little girl. She was perfect!
With Model calls I don't do a planning consultation....the images are for me to practice. However, I do always offer a gift to my clients, and after hearing this family's story....I knew what we were going to do for their gift.
You see, Baby Quinn is a Rainbow baby. If you are unfamiliar with that term, a Rainbow Baby is a child born after a loss of another child due to miscarriage, stillbirth, or other tragedy. Miss Quinn's big brother had past away the year prior, and she is now the shining light after a tragic loss. I knew we had to celebrate her and her brother's lives in a special way.
So after achieving several shots that were on my "to do" list, I set up for the rainbow shot. Mom had even brought a weighted bear and photograph in remembrance of her son, making this image even more special.
Please enjoy just a few of the amazing image captured from this Newborn Modelling session below.
The day is finally here! And such perfect timing...a little Thanksgiving miracle.
I started getting text messages around 5pm saying...we might be having a baby tonight. Then....a call saying "We are headed to the hospital..." So excited! I inhaled my dinner, got the kids bathed and ready for bed, fed the baby....and no call. I got ready for bed thinking it might be a short night of sleep. Around 9pm I get a text from dad telling me what's going on....early labor has begun and they will call when she gets to active labor.
So I headed off to bed....and the call comes in around 3:30am! YAY! Changed my clothes, grabbed my gear, and headed to the hospital. Much to my surprise...mom is almost complete when I get there just 40 minutes later! WOW! She is rocking this birth!
Grandma's and Great-Grandma are there patiently waiting with mom and dad. Mom is laughing, talking, and so calm. You would never know that this woman was about to meet her sweet baby boy in just a few minutes.
Within minutes a nurse checks mom and she is COMPLETE and ready to push! Everything gets prepped and set up for delivery....the doctor comes in and says "Lets see how we do with a couple pushes". Apparently...very well because the next thing I know....the doctor is suiting up and there is a little crown of a head. Still so calm, mom gently pushes her baby out into the world within 10 minutes of pushing. AMAZING!
This first time mom rocked this birth like it was nobody's business. She made it look so easy! Ha! It was truly very impressive to behold.
Over the next couple hours this family began to bond. Daddy shed manly tears of joy over his new son. Mommy wept with love for her baby boy. Grandmas fawned over this new little person. It all happened so fast. You blink and you miss it kind of fast. But each moment was full of love. Each embrace....love. Each glance...love. It was an honor to be there to witness it.
Here are just a few of my favorite images from this truly amazing birth! Enjoy!
